lower manhattan love { nyc // day four }

This was our last full day in the Concrete Jungle and yet another sunny day! We were thrilled to explore Lower Man and wanted to make sure to explore areas such as Greenwich Village, Financial District, 9/11 Memorial, South Street Seaport, and the iconic Brookyln Bridge! We did all of this plus more!

We channeled our inner hipsters (which wasn't too hard since we all live close to two hipster capitals, Portland and Seattle) and walked through the Village while trying not to stop at every colored-door-clad brick building with a  nearby cruiser bike decorated with a basket of flowers.

Plenty of well-known shows were based in this residential west Lower Man corner including The Cosby Show and  Friends.

We soon found our way towards Wall Street and half-seriously hung around the NY Stock Exchange Building peering around for handsome well-to-do young bachelors. Much to our dismay, our scouting was fruitless, so we made up for it by doing some window shopping in Financial District's Tiffany's (sadly not the 57th & 5th Ave that Holly Golighty famously gazed at in her LBD, black sunnies and pearls).
After feasting our eyes on posh jewelry, we spent moments in silence in the 9/11 Memorial as we remembered the fallen heroes.

Next up was a long, but enjoyable, walk across the 5,989 foot Brooklyn Bridge. One of the country's oldest suspension bridges, it connects Manhattan to Brooklyn.

We then rested our very weary feet on the benches of Brooklyn Heights Park and giggled at some toddlers nearby.
South Street Seaport was next on our itinerary. This historic marina boasts a great view of the beloved Brooklyn Bridge from the eastern edge of Lower Manhattan. Again we rested our weary feet on the wooden docks and enjoyed the breeze from the Hudson.
We then made our way to the west side of Lower Man to catch Circle Line's Harbor Lights 2.5hr Cruise. This was definitely one of my favorite memories of NYC! Words cannot describe the beauty of seeing the NYC skyline (which by this time, we had all fallen head-over-heels for) as well as the Lady herself!

We finished the night by enjoying some delicious cheesecake in Times Square and headed to our apartment after an eventful and beautiful day in Lower Manhattan!

    1. You should, Ashley! I never really had the desire until last summer when I went to Europe. I got back thinking I wish we had that kind of history and architecture in the US and then it hit me: NYC!
