September Kid Lit Reviews

I adore children's books and get really excited when I am able to review new children's picture books for different publishers. I am slowly building a library for my future children with books I can hardly wait to read aloud together.  Here are two recently released books I received recently that I think many children will enjoy flipping through.

The Cow Said Neigh: A Farm Story by Rory Feek (illustrated by Robert Dunn)
A silly board book about farm animals who wish they were like other animals. This one is sure to make little ones laugh out load. From neigh-ing cow, to the quacking horse, the oink-ing pig, and a meow-ing dog, these adorably illustrated animals are a hoot. Rory, of Joey+Rory country fame, created a fun rhyming farm story that is sure to delight toddlers, especially if the reader joins in the silliness and makes all the animal sounds with gusto!

Target audience: toddlers

ThoughtFull: Discovering the Unique Gifts in Each of Us by Dorena Williamson (illustrated by Bruno Robert)
When a kind, thoughtful boy with Down syndrome receives an award at school, Joshua overhears students making fun of him and decides to be like Ahanu and choose thoughtfulness and kindness  as he stands up for his friend. A wonderful resource to encourage children to respect and stand up for differently-abled classmates and friends. There are great discussion questions for parents or teachers to discuss with children about how God has created each of us with our own gifts and abilities and we can celebrate the different gifts in each of us.

Target audience: pre-school and grade-school
