A Day in Nice, France (part 1)

Bienvenue sur la Côte d'Azur!
I am so excited to step away from the freezing temperatures outside my window and step into memories of the last leg of our summer trip to England and France: the French Riviera! It was breathtakingly beautiful and utterly delightful to relax.
After spending two wonderful - yet  very busy - weeks in London and Paris, it was lovely to spend three days in such a gorgeous corner of France!

Anna and I were based in Nice and spent the first two days balancing being beach bums with exploring  the city centre. Our third day was an adventure in Eze and Monte Carlo. I can't wait to share it all!
But for now, here is the first day. We flew from Paris early in the morning and arrived around 10am. By the time we arrived to our adorable flat in Nice (again, found through airbnb), we were already sweating and ready to change into our swimsuits and lounge on the pebble beach a mere two blocks away! Oh, it was so lovely!!! We spent the day strolling along the Promenade des Anglais, the dreamy Nice boardwalk populated by rollerbladers, baby-strollers, joggers, and lots and lots of bikes!
Here is our balcony view! Perfect, right?
The pebble "sand" left a few bruises but I didn't mind too much because I was constantly jumping back into the water and swimming like a kid who just discovered they could swim.
After swimming in the ocean [one of my highlights of the whole summer!] and getting my tan on, we  rented velo bleu bikes and rode to the other side of Nice, le Port. Be still, my heart!

We finished the night off with a picnic dinner on the promenade at sunset.

What a wonderful day! I wish I could go back in time and enjoy the simple joys of this day!

  2. How lovely! I have a big soft spot in my heart for Nice (although who wouldn't). One of my best girl friends and I spent nearly a week there after we graduated from uni and it's where I met my current boyfriend. The bf and I went back for several days again this year for him to compete in the Triathlon de Nice. Such a beautiful area and will always be a favorite holiday spot for me!

  5. These pictures are beautiful! Especially the ones at the marina! One of my favorite spots while living in CA was the marina at sunset. And with those mountains. Oh, it was just beautifully painted skies!
