fall photo-shoot link-up: Fort Vancouver Historical Site

"fall has always been favorite season. the time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year long for this grand finale
{lauren distefano}

These photos were taken on a beautiful, sunny October day that was a perfect little surprise after several weeks of rain. It also happened to be the day after I had four wisdom teeth extracted and my sweet sisters stayed two days with me at my apartment to help me recover and keep me company. Well, I figured I was feeling well enough to venture out to one of my favorite spots in Vancouver, Wa., especially since I wasn't sure when this beautiful weather would come to an end.

A little history about Fort Vancouver before the photos start rolling in:
Originally an important British fur trading outpost established in 1824, the US Army later constructed barracks neighboring the British trading outpost in 1849 (and eventually took over the trading outpost when it was abandoned). Around this time, Officer's Row, a historic street with 21 restored Victorian homes built for military officers and their families were also constructed. Eventually, the Pearson Air Museum (I looove old planes!) was also added to the grounds.

The beautiful Queen Anne style Marshall House, built in 1886
(my sister accidentally photobombed this one, haha!)

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?”
{Anne of Green Gables)

"There was a delightful spiciness in the air and music of bird calls + the murmur + laugh of wood winds in the trees overhead."

(Anne of Green Gables)

I am linking-up with my lovely blog friend, Katie from Hope Engaged.

  1. I love the Anne of Green Gables quotes!! I need to introduce my girls to those books and movies! And lovely photos as always! Those homes are gorgeous! I love homes with a huge wrap around porch!! I love planes too, in general. I went to an airshow this summer and was like a kid in a candy store watching the planes do their tricks. Amazing! :)
